German solar roof tiles important part of energy transition: Autarq becomes a member of the ESMC

Prenzlau, February 1, 2023

Climate tech pioneer Autarq is now a member of the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC). The industry organisation, gathering companies and research institutions in the European PV manufacturing Industry, is considered one of the most important bodies in the solar industry. The medium-sized company from Brandenburg in East Germany joins the group of pioneering players in technology, production and research. For example, Siemens AG, Fraunhofer ISE, Enlog AG and over 50 other organizations are also members of the association. The goal of the ESMC is to promote the PV manufacturing industry along the entire value chain on a European level, including improving the competitive conditions of the upstream part of the PV Industry. Autarq has been a leader in the research and development of modular plug-and-play solar photovoltaic technologies since 2012. Currently in its fourth generation, the company's proprietary solar technology represents continuous innovation and improvement in the field of photovoltaics. For Autarq CEO Kai Buntrock, a holistic European perspective along the entire value chain is crucial: "We are excited about our membership and all the synergies it will create in the future. It has proven to be important for us during the pandemic to pursue a high level of vertical integration in the manufacture of all our system components. In doing so, our solar roof tiles are 100 percent designed and manufactured in Germany and Hungary - critical for a successful energy transition in Europe."

About Autarq

Founded in 2011 by electrical engineer Cornelius Paul, climate tech pioneer Autarq is now one of the most innovative players in the European solar industry. Simple, safe and aesthetic: For the Autarq solar roof tile system, conventional standard clay roof tiles are refined into powerful solar roof tiles. With the patented wirie harness, they form a building-integrated solar solution that is the only one on the market to work in safe extra-low voltage and highly adaptive parallel connection, as well as without power electronics on the roof. In doing so, the company under CEO Kai Buntrock pursues the mission of making the technology as simple and safe as possible for users in terms of planning, installation and operation, and to advance the energy transition from and in Europe. Autarq GmbH has been part of econnext AG since 2017.
